Little Yak is 3 + Giveaway!

Today is a landmark for Little Yak – three years, 100 posts and the end of my longest blogging break to date – three things to celebrate!

Yak on the road, Tibet

To mark the occasion, I’m giving away a copy of the new Rough Guide to Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, parts of which have been lovingly updated by yours truly. I may even sign it, although that feels a bit OTT. Anyway, to enter the giveaway, e-mail me on jo{at}little-yak.com by Friday 21st August. The winner will be the first name I pick out of my Tibetan cowboy hat on Saturday morning.

After my last post from Thimphu, I hitch-hiked around Bhutan for a while, staying on farms and exploring (more on this in a future post). I returned to Thimphu in time to feel the tremors from the second big earthquake in Nepal. Long-time readers may remember an old post about long-distance cyclist Nirwan Moktan, who now lives in Pokhara. Nirwan has been busy with many aspects of the post-earthquake relief effort and has been doing an amazing job of connecting people who can help with those in need.

Back in Hong Kong, I had the honour and very sweaty pleasure of being an official photographer at my island’s annual Bun Festival. And then I had a bit of a holiday in Europe.

Through all this, I found myself fresh out of blogging inspiration and Little Yak languished while I steadily pushed the site down my list of Things to Think About. Perhaps all I needed was a holiday and lots of cheese, but whatever the reason may be, I’m happy to report that the yak mo-jo is back…
